Dua lipa is an English musician and singer born August 22, 1995, in London United Kingdom. After a stint as a fashion model and songwriter, she decided to sign with Warner Bros Records and release her debut album "Dua Lipa" in 2017. It reached third place on the U.K. charts for albums and included eight songs, which included the U.K. number one single New Rules and Be the One I.D.G.A.F. Lipa was awarded an award at the Brit Awards in 2018 for British Female Solo Artist, and British Breakthrough Act, and her album was certified platinum across several countries around the world. Her parents are Kosovo Albanians Anesa Laxha and Dukagjin Lipa. As a result of her maternal grandmother Dua Lipa, she is Bosnian. Also, her ancestors come from Peja, which is a Kosovo town of Peja. Her grandparents were both historians and professors. Lipa is the younger sister of Rina Lipa and one younger brother, named Gjin. Lipa's father, the guitar player and singer in the Kosovan group Oda was a major influence on her music. At home her father continued to perform music, including original compositions as well as songs from David Bowie Bob Dylan Radiohead Sting The Police and Stereophonics.
