
Salma Hayek Pinault (born Salma Valgarma Hayek-Jimmyenez, September 2, 1966)[3][4][5[3][4][5]) is an American and Mexican actress. She started her career in Mexico by playing a lead role in the television drama Teresa (1989-1991) as in the romantic drama El Callejon de los Milagros (1995), for which she received an Ariel Award nomination. Her career quickly took off in Hollywood with appearances in films such as Desperado (1995), From Dusk till Dawn (1996), Wild Wild West (1999) as well as Dogma (1999). Hayek's role as Frida Kahlo, a painter, in Frida (2002) which is a biographical film she wrote and produced that earned her an Academy Award for Best Actress nomination[6She also received the Academy Award for Best Actress nomination[6. She also received her Golden Globe Award, Screen Actors Guild Award and British Academy Film Award nominations. In subsequent years, Hayek focused more on producing while starring in the action-centered pictures Once Upon a Time in Mexico
